[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Laura Addis, Sardinian by birth and Florentine by action. Founder of the Ottica Sartoriale brand, an optical shop with highly select Brands (Linda Farrow, Monokol, Bottega Antiqua… Just to mention a few) and eye check-up centre in Florence. What do you like most about Florence? One really striking thing about Florence is the view of the Ponte Vecchio and Lungarni when you pass beneath them in a row boat. You get the impression of living in another era. Where do you like to have breakfast and what do you love to eat? I like to have breakfast at the historic Bar Francesconi, a chocolate ‘fagottino’ pastry and a cappuccino. What part of your store are you fondest of? The part of my store I’m fondest of is definitely the marble table where I love to chat and have coffee with customers and friends. What product would you recommend for an unforgettable gift? Is...

CRUMB GALLERY

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Crumb Gallery #womeninart, the first art gallery in Europe dedicated exclusively to female artists, because solo exhibitions by women still make up no more than 25 per cent of the total. Crumb Gallery #womeninart because a work by a woman, in 2016, in Italy, was valued at 179 thousand euros, which is already a lot, while a work by a man, 4 million and 685 thousand euros. Crumb Gallery #womeninart because of the 15 artists represented in the galleries, 90 per cent are men. Crumb Gallery #womeninart because the galleries that exhibit only women, worldwide, can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Crumb Gallery #womeninart to close the gap between men and women in the world of contemporary art, with a space that promotes, spreads the word, supports and exhibits painting, sculptures, photography, installation and performance art by female artists. In the 1980s, it was impossible for a...

FOLLOWING IN DANTE’S FOOTSTEPS

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Dante’s journeys were unique, steeped in history, art and nature. Now, bespoke tourist itineraries, designed to offer travellers unforgettable days and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, retrace those ancient traditions and outstanding landmarks. An idea for an intense vacation, immersed in a priceless “rich vein” of history, between Emilia Romagna and Tuscany. Follow Dante’s footsteps from Florence to Ravenna through the Apennines at a nice slow pace, enjoying all the local delights offered by the territory. Aboard the Faenza-Florence train (through Marradi), by bicycle along the ancient Via Faentina, or by foot along the many hiking trails. Florence, Scarperia and San Piero, Borgo San Lorenzo, Marradi, then Faenza, Brisighella and Ravenna: the ancient palaces, Romanesque parish churches, small villages, museums, libraries, and artisan workshops, still speak today for the places where Dante lived in exile. Le Vie di Dante is a project of the Emilia Romagna Region’s APT Services and the Tuscan Tourist Bureau. For more information: www.viedidante.it [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]...

THE MEDICI VILLAS: Poggio a Caiano

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Medici villas are rural architectural complexes, located around Florence and Tuscany, which came into the possession of the Medici Family through various means between the 15th and 16th centuries. Among these, the Medici villa at Poggio a Caiano is one of the most famous. It is located in the Municipality of Poggio a Caiano, in the Province of Prato. The villa is almost certainly the best example of architecture commissioned by Lorenzo the Magnificent to be designed by Giuliano da Sangallo in 1480. It is strategically situated at the centre of a hillock in Montalbano, and was in fact initially a fort built by the Cancellieri Family of Pistoia. Lorenzo dei Medici, through his architect, was one of the first to create a rural space where the land was shaped to meet more peaceful needs, transforming the villa into what would become the prototype of the country mansion for centuries to...

ABOUT WOMEN BETWEEN WOMEN

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] About women, between women. Dialogues on feminism. Cristina Tedde and Alessia Dulbecco What do women talk about over coffee? Often, about women themselves. Today, I'm lucky to be able to talk with someone I hold in high regard and care about very much: Alessia Dulbecco. Pedagogue and counsellor, specialized in gender violence, creates training courses for associations and businesses that want to concretely work on equal opportunities (alessiadulbecco.com) We are both firmly convinced that a great deal of work still needs to be done to ensure that women can participate in social life without being subjected to clichés and stereotypes. How many women, before men, still do not recognize their value. They have to fight for space in a purely male world. They are often each other's and their own worst enemies. Alessia: They are enemies because the male point of view has taught them to think that. Enemies of other women - possible...
